Neem is a fast-growing evergreen tree, also called Indian Melia, reaching a height of 15-20 meters. It is widely used in traditional folk use in India, where mostly the fruits and leaves are used. The main active ingredient in neem is the limonoid azadiracetin. In addition, it also contains various glycerides, polyphenols, triterpenes and plant sterols. The leaves contain a lot of flavonoids quercetin and catechin as well as carotenoids and vitamin C.
